# Backup cards for HSA/FSA subscriptions

If you sell subscriptions through the Truemed API, you can now require a backup credit or debit card when a shopper pays with HSA/FSA. Fewer renewals fail when a shopper's HSA/FSA account runs low, so more subscribers stay with you. At checkout, the shopper pays for the first order with the HSA/FSA card, and Truemed saves the backup card without charging it. On a later renewal, if the HSA/FSA account does not have enough funds, Truemed charges the rest to the backup card. Shoppers see how Truemed uses the backup card before they subscribe.
